Rotary Youth Exchange Program aims to provide young people
with opportunities to learn about and appreciate cultural differences across nations. By fostering international understanding and goodwill, the program contributes to the promotion of world peace.

This program stands out from other exchange programs in several ways. It is sponsored by Rotary clubs, providing strong support and guidance. Additionally, each student stays with 3 different host families, allowing them to experience diverse lifestyles and gain a deeper understanding of local culture.

  • Developing Communication Skills and Cultural Understanding
Learning a new language and embracing cultural differences help students communicate effectively and adapt to diverse environments.
  • Enhancing Leadership and Self-Confidence
Living in a different environment from Thailand enables students to develop problem-solving skills, adaptability, and confidence in making independent decisions.
  • Fostering International Understanding and Relations
Experiencing life and education in another country provides students with new perspectives and allows them to play a crucial role in bridging cultural understanding between nations.
  • Building a Global Network
Students will meet new friends and host families abroad, creating valuable international connections that can benefit their education, career, and global relationships in the future.

Thailand, located in Southeast Asia along the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea, shares borders with Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Malaysia. Despite its rich natural resources, Thailand was never colonized and has been a monarchy since 1350. Its capital, Bangkok, was established in 1782 and blends Thai and Western architecture.

Covering 513,115 sq. km, Thailand extends 1,650 km north to south and 800 km east to west, with a coastline of 3,148 km. It is the 50th-largest country, slightly smaller than Yemen and slightly larger than Spain. The geography includes mountainous north (Doi Inthanon, 2,565 m), the Khorat Plateau in the northeast, the Chao Phraya River valley in the center, and the Malay Peninsula in the south. Thailand’s six geographical regions vary in resources, population, and economic development, making its diversity a defining characteristic.

The climate is tropical with long hours of sunshine and high humidity.
There are three seasons:

  • Summer from Mid-Feb to Mid-May.
  • Rainy from Mid-May to Mid-October
  • Winter from Mid-Oct to Mid-February

The country has a population of approximately 70 million, of which around 9.7 million live in the capital city, Bangkok. The most important ethnic minority are Chinese. Other minority groups include Malays, Cambodians, Indians, non-Thai hill tribes, and some Vietnamese.

The five horizontal stripes of three colors – red, white and blue have very significant meanings.  Red signifies the life-blood of Thai people; the white stripe symbolizes the purity of Buddhism, the national religion; and the dominant blue stripe, the monarchy and the important it plays in the daily life of the Thai people.
